One of my earliest work and a favorite. While I was learning photography from O.P Sarma at Triveni in Delhi me and my then girlfriend decided to go to Manali for a trek. Those days Manali was just a small village frequented by hippies from the West who loved the mountains and abundance of marijuana. As we hiked up a hill we came across a group of villagers lifting heavy stones from the river bed and taking it up to their village. Upon asking they said that a couple got recently married and the whole village was helping to build them a stone hut. We ended up staying there and getting to know them. Those days I shot with an Olympus OM2 film camera and did all the processing at home. Here in the photo are two friends from the village sitting by their doorstep eating some kind of edible flower.

It would be wonderful to have you share your comment about this picture!
